loss of power over 2000RPM

My 6.4 has no power over 2000RPM's and the check engine light is on. If I try and push it over the 2000RPM's it acts like the motor is shutting down.

Any ideas?

i have a 6.0 and had a similar problem ended up with bad fuel. possible cause for you to. just an idea

I just filled up again yesterday and I still have the same problem. I did get fuel from the same station. My buddy also filled up there on Saturday and he is not having any problems in his 7.3.

Nope it is completely stock. I have about 26,000 miles on it and I thought it may be the fuel filters.

I was pulling a trailer this weekend and I took off from a light and it was blowing tons of black smoke. I think I may have multiple problems.

If the engine light is on then it needs to be checked before it can run right again. It is not good to keep running it like that. It is only for getting it safely off the road.

Perhaps nothing is wrong with it now but it still needs the trouble code cleared and find the problem that caused it.

Check make sure you don't have any boost leaks. And check too see which code you have set. Will help out a lot in fixing this

Well it ended up being the high pressure fuel pump that was causing all the problems. Plus they had to put a new radiator in due to a leak.

I have the same problem, the truck is in "Limp Mode", it won't let you get over 2000 RPMs. I took it over to the dealer and they changed the wiring harness for the high pressure pump, replaced the high pressure pump, and 2 injectors. I got it out of the shop for around 24 hours and right back to the Ford dealer doing the same thing! They have already had it for over a week and a half. Guess it will be there for another couple weeks, wonder where I can find a 7.3 for this truck!
