Door Glass Scratches - Please Reply

I had gone to a Window Repair today to have a couple of Rock Chips fixed on my Windshield.

While I was there, I mentioned the Scratches on my Drivers Door Window. They Look like something was trapped in the Weatherstrip and as you Rolled Down the window, the Outside had been Scratched Pretty Good.

He says if you can catch your Fingernail on the Scratch, it is too deep to be polished out.

Then he said, I'm Suprised there hasn't been a Recall for that. He Claims that he Sees it All the Time. (Maybe not just Super Dutys, but other Fords too.)

Sounds like the Weatherstrip catches and Keeps dirt, gravel, whatever, trapped. Then, when you Roll the Window down, SCRATCH!!!

I want to go to the Dealer next week, but I wonder if anyone else is seeing any problem with theirs?

I'm trying to do a little research before I complain. Online, I've found other Ford Vehicles that have had the Trouble.

I'd Appreciate some Input here.

i have the same exact problem. it is very heavy on my drivers side door, and there are a few on the passangers. i also have tinted windows so it shows up really good and drives me crazy. let me know what you find out please! i am very interested

There is a recall on that issue. Call your local dealer to have it fix, they replace something i think. I have to take mine in to get the drivers side window regulator replaced cause it makes a loud noise.

ive heard alot of "scratching noises" but havent noticed any real scratches yet but was just wondering about this issue

Yes there is a tsb on that issue. I just called my insurance company they took care of it.

the dealer took care of mine. They replaced the weather stripping and some other stuff, and some new glass. good to go

It's going in the Shop Tomorrow.

I think the Radiator is leaking.

Already called them and explained it, Window and Radiator, sounds Positive. We'll see.

Took the Truck in today. Dealer Said there is a Bulletin for the Window Regulator. Something about making noise.

He is going to Replace the Driver's Door Glass too. He blamed that on Dirt, Sand, Rock, Debris, in the Weather Strip. I told him that I have heard about the Regulator and its alignment causing problems.

I would NOT Guarantee your Dealer will replace the Glass. He could not confirm that it was related to the Regulator, but is going to do it Under Warranty anyway.

FYI: if anyone else wants to know, the Dripping that I had, which collected on the ground under the Driver's Side Headlight, was the Radiator. It was Replaced Under Warranty.
