Patterns
Are they LED or Tube Strobe packs ???
Is there a button on the back or an additional trip wire that is not hooked up. If you give me the model number I can get you the info. I take care of all the emergency lighting for my department and my be able to get you an answer. |

do they have a 3rd wire(maybe grey or purple) running from them?
tht is usually the pattern change |

They are 4 led they are a four wire set up. The red which is hot, Black which is the ground, Yellow that ties the two to flash together and the blue wire to change patteren/ The directions said to hook the blue wire into the black wire for a one second pause in between flash patterns. I did but the lights would only work for like ten seconds then stop. So I remove the blue from black wire. The lights work but dont change pattern. I havent had time to mess with bc we got storms here and I had to run calls. I now at work and the truck is at home. I try to drive the g/f's extra car so my baby dont get miles on it.

Trip Wire
It sounds like the blue wire is the trip wire. As you indicated. In all the applications I have been involved with the blue wire went to power not ground for one second to change the pattern.
If the light is shutting down after touching the ground it may mean that is has shorted and is subsequently resetting itself. Try changing the pattern without the "tie in" (yellow) wire connected. That wire may be interfearing with the pattern change. Especially if one light is trying to change it's pattern and at the same time trying to sync with the other. just try applying the blue wire to power for a few seconds then just touch it to a power wire that is how my led lights change patterns.

and after ya get it figured out you can run the blue wire to a momentary switch that is either hooked to hot or ground and change your patterns on the fly.
the lights we have, have a white wire to ground to change patterns post pics too!! |
