VA is making me lower....

Well it all started last month when I got pulled over by a trooper for bumper height and "illegal" headlights... Told me I had to lower it or pay the fine, not even two weeks later another state trooper pulls me over and gives me SIX tickets... bumper height, no light cover on LED light bar, tire width to wide, "illegal" exhaust, windshield decal, and last supposedly my DL was suspended for something back in 2011. The trooper removed my tags and had it towed and I am not able to drive my vehicle until it is deemed VA highway legal or it has to leave the state. Kicker... it is registered in TEXAS, I am a Texas resident and carry a TX DL... and also I am on active duty... But none of that matters. So I am working right now on lowering my truck from the 14" lift it has now back down to about 8 only problem is I need a set of tires now. So if anyone needs a decent set of used 40x14.50R22 SSM16's that have still about 30-35% tread life let me know for more info and pics. looking for a set of 37's or 35's to help out. Im located in Virginia Beach. Here is the latest last pic I have before I got popped.

That really sucks! No cover on the lightbar and decal on the windshield? I haven't heard of tickets for those before. Hell I drive around with my 20" bar on during the day and haven't had a problem (knock on wood). Hope you get everything "fixed"???? and they leave you alone.

You still have to abide by va laws even if your truck is registered out of state. That's what the judge told me. Local smokies target out of state plates. Good luck.

it's true but in my experience they usually cut you slack and being Military you think they would be a little cooler

My truck with Tint and lift violated plenty of Oregon and Cali law but I never had an issue

sorry VA is being chitty

They are tough around that area because there are so many altered vehicles around the bases with out of state tag... so as usual you pay for the mistakes of many.

You could make a claim about harassment at the station, but that's your call.

Your best bet is to just lower it or get two more lug nuts

Just a side note, at 8"s you will still be over the limit haha... just saying.

VA is making me lower....

Yeah guys the communist wealth sucks! I been driving like this for over 3 years and since Trooper Ogden pulled me over they have been stopping me. I believe he put it out there for me. I don't mind abiding the laws but there should be a reciprocity agreement in place, such as that for CHL's, but for out of state vehicles. I think if my vehicle meets all of my states regulations, which it does, I should be perfectly legal to use my vehicle. Anyhow 8" on 40's meets the requirement. 31" rear and 30" front bumper height. But I want 37's or 35's just so there is no fine line so I don't have to make another court appearance. On another note seems these DMV trained troopers don't have a clue, he claimed my exhaust was "illegal" he said it couldn't be a turn down exhaust? Its an over axle dump, thats DPF back and is 50 state carb legal? Head lights are illegal... They are clearly marked SAE/DOT... These guys need better training if they want to be sticklers. Just wasting my time having to go to court to clear up some stupid tickets.

Holy crap, Trooper Ogden pulled me over in my old '06 F250 with 8" lift and 37" tires, lol. He pulled me over specifically for the lift and came up with tape measure in hand. Luckily, I was within the lift law limits for bumper height. He didn't say anything about my wheels/tires sticking out too much (22x11, -24mm offset). He HAD to get me for something, so he made me peel my tint off on the spot before I could leave.

I had a 2004 Cobra and got pulled over constantly for my exhaust (o/r x-pipe and no mufflers). Haven't been pulled yet with the 6.4L and deleted.

Sorry to hear man, good luck! I'm moving to Boise by the end of the year. Had enough of this Communistwealth State.

Yeah he will come out tape measure in hand!! Haha You wouldn't happen to still have your stock exhaust? I just need DPF back to bolt in for court pics! I already lowered it down back to 8" lift and it looks pretty good on 40's. Ordered some rigid light bar covers and I'm good there. Also on tire clearance I'm under 4" and just like you 11" wide wheel so I'm good but another trooper gave me a ticket anyway. I also gad to peel tint from my windshield top. Courts on the 22nd we will see. If not I will ask for a continuance on the exhaust.
