Remove Side Vents

How do you remove the side vents. My friend owns an auto body shop so we want to take them off and paint the red part black. Do they just pop off?

Yea they come off pretty easy. I just used a screw driver with a cloth behind it so I didn't scratch the truck and popped them off. They come off in two pieces. I've pulled them off twice with no issues, just go slow and work your way around so you don't stress any certain section too much.

I used my fingers. Wasn't that hard. Start right under the F2/3/450 part of the badge and pry from the bottom, weaseling your fingers under, then working around the sides (of just this upper part). 5 clips.

Once that is off, the bottom part has 3 clips, mostly towards the bottom. Start from the top and work your way down, being careful not to bend the fragile plastic too much.

I got them off like a charm. Thanks for the help. I painted the red to black and it looks awesome. I'll post some pics when I get home.

Right on. Did you use an adhesion promoter? I didn't use enough adhesion promoter the first time and the paint didn't stick, came off in the car wash.

It's a spray you put on before your first coat that makes paint stick to plastic. Any paint store would have it. You have to spray your first coat dry on top of the adhesion promoter while it's still wet. The first time I didn't get enough in all the small holes and that's where it started to flake after a few weeks.
