Bedliner and Tailgate Step

Has anyone here had a spray in bedliner added that has a tailgate step option? What did you do with it? Leave the tailgate as is or spray over the plastic? Anyone know what it looks like under the plastic?

I'm going to get a spray in bedliner and want the tailgate to match the bed. I'm thinking of spraying the tailgate plastic cover and leaving the handle as is. Another option would be to remove the plastic, but I doubt there's anything under it but the tailgate internals.

I had my bed sprayed at Rhino Linning. They took the plastic off and sprayed half way up on the tail gate. It has been on there about 15 mos. now with no problems at all. Tailgate step works like it is suppose to and the tail gate is protected. I'm glad I had it done that way.

I had the Line-X installed on mine, they removed the tailgate plastic and sprayed as if it wasn't there, then reinstalled. Looks very clean, I'll try to get some pictures of it tomorrow. Kinda dark at the moment.

Thanks guys. Pics would be nice to give me some ideas. I'll be taking the plastic off tomorrow to see what it looks like too.

smotrs, just curious, what percent tint do you have on your truck front and rear? I'm looking to do this too.

I went with Rhino and left plastic tailgate cover alone.

Rear is factory tinted and I had the front tinted to match. Not sure of the exact percentage. I just walked into the shop I normally goto and asked them to tint to match. That was the result.

I had my fronts tinted to match and they said it was 20%.
