Front bumper guards

I saw a police F-350 doing some radar on the side of the highway. Basically it was all black and had some sort of black guard on the front and looked mean as hell. It looked like two solid steel bars coming out from under the front bumper and then going straight up about 8 to 12 inches and then stopping. they didnt conect to eachother. Does anyone know what kind this could be?

well i searched bull nose guards. THey are all huge compared to what i saw. They all came up almost to the hood and then had bars running vertically across from the main beams. The one i saw came up less then half the distance and had nothing running across.
