FX4'd Lariat teaser

As some may already know, my plan was to remove the factory chrome grille and replace it with an FX4 type. The issue in my case was that the FX4 grille was never available in the color that my Lariat is painted. Therefore, painting was necessary. To update, I bought an FX4 grille off ebay for 75 dollars. I got lucky. I talked to a buddy of mine about painting it who works at a Ford dealership. He's not a painter but he has buddies in the body shop that are. Long story short, I picked up the grille last Saturday and asked the guy who painted it what he wanted for his work. I was stunned when he asked for only 40 dollars!! Anyway, I decided to install the grille last night and I could not possibly be happier with the finished product. The "teaser" part of the thread is that the pictures won't come until I get home this evening.
My further plan is the sell the chrome one that I now have and use the money to offset the cost of the aftermarket Carriage Works insert that I want to use in place of the black plastic insert that comes on the factory FX4 version. I think you'll all like it. I'll post pics tonight.

Here are the pics. The first is with the factory grille for the sake of comparison. Check 'em out.

Very nice...I gotta say the stock chrome XLT style grille blows IMO, the FX4 is much nicer.

I love the looks of the FX4 grille but it sucks when it starts to get chipped up. I love mine but it seems like everytime I wash it I see several new chips.

Thumbs up Nice

I want to do this to my truch too. Mine is green and will need a paint job too. I agree the tinted lights would look good on the truck.
