What is this piece on the 08 mirrors

I just got my set of manual 08 mirrors and was looking at them and noticed this piece that is only on the passenger side mirror, it pops out and there is a plug that goes up into the mirror somewhere. Heres some pics of what im talking about.

"Environmental Temperature Sensor", those mirrors may be off a 2011, which likely now has the check engine lamp on. LOL

Well theres no cords running out of the mirrors though and nothing was cut so why is it there? is it just a dummy plug or is that sensor still there and i could potentially wire it up to have an overhead display?

Looking in the shop manual it's used as a temperature input to the HVAC and the PCM, so it likely displays the outside temperature on the HVAC display.

It looks by the wiring diagram the wiring for that is included in the harness that comes out of the mirror. Pins 30 and 31, Yellow/green, and Yellow/violet.

Hope this helps.

Could you do us a little favor and size down that sig pic a hair? It's pretty hard to read with a picture that big.

Hey big angry, Do you think that you could get me the wiring diagrams for a set of 2008+ power fold/extend/memory/power/heat/signal mirrors? Mine have a TON of wires and I can't seem to get the up and down to work on the driver side and I also am getting ready to do the power fold/extend wiring on my truck with the OEM fold switch and relay.
