Power folding mirror problems

My drivers side mirror folds and extends properly but my passenger one only extends. Dealer says mirror needs replacing because no separate parts are available but its too much $$$ ($1600 CDN)!.
I tried the sync procedure - to no avail..
Has anyone run across this - and any way to repair it?

I'm guessing the teeth on the gears have ground down, that's usually what happens. There is a guy that had a great thread on how to fix them using JB weld. When I get home and on a computer I will try and find it and link it for you.

My same mirror had the same problem. Prob from people trying to fold them in with their hands. Had to bite the bullet and buy a new one.

The cost of a new one is prohibitive, given that i hardly fold mine...
