Line X on Exterior of Bed

Had the unfortunate experience of a drill bit pushing through the exterior side of the box's skin. It didn't penetrate all the way through the skin but you can clearly see where a drill bit pushed/brushed up against the skin from the inside out. The paint and clear coat are cracked on the surface and theres a slight indent. Was wondering if anyone has Line X'ed the top 6 or 8 inches of the outside of the box. The issue is below the body line so I'm unsure how Line X would look as there isn't a body line to follow. Was thinking of doing both sides and the tailgate!s top 6" in color matched Line X. What do you guys think?

I'll get pictures of where the damage is and roughly where I want the Line X. Was also thinking about doing the rockers in color matched Line X as well but think it might look funny with just a little bit of paint still showing.

Only reason I want Line X is to prevent any rust from forming. There's already been a couple snowfalls here and there's lots of salt on the roads and the metal's exposed. Worried about future issues of rust penetrating through the paint a couple years down the road. I'm curious how the factory bed caps will fit if I get it sprayed underneath them and then 6 or 8 inches down from the bed caps.

I got a small dent in the the side of my bed the size of a softball with most of the paint gone. It's been like that for a year plus snow plowing and it still hasn't rusted. I'm pretty surprised.

If Line X wasn't so bloody expensive in Canada, I probably would. Got quoted $800 to do the top 6-8" of my bed and $1800 to do the rockers in the premium color matched liner. Might have to price it out down south and drive down to Montana and get it done in a weekend.

Wow. I was quoted $950 for the bed, bumpers, fender flares, and rockers to be sprayed with color matched Line-X, including the UV protection coating.
