Side mirror actuator repair?

After driving through a construction zone, my side mirror hit one of the construction signs and messed up the mirror actuator. Is there a way to fix the gears inside of the actuator that moves the the mirror when you tuck it in and un tuck it?

It's loose, moves about a half inch back and forth. I'm thinking it snapped off a tooth on the plastic gears inside the mirror or something like that.

I fixed it by messing with it.. I hit the good button, let them get halfway folded then I hit it again, did this twice quickly and it knocked them back in the track/ gear. So try that it might fix it!
