08 Tailgate removal

I was thinking of upgrading to the 08 tailgate for my rig, but was wondering if it removes in the same way as the older models. Will I have to get new hardware for attaching it other than those two tethers? Thanks in advance!

I believe it is the same hardware. Where's Nate when you need him?

He is also considering a swap to a 08 gate.

no prob buddy. the local ford parts man and me did alot of homework to make sure we had it right when i did the swap on my truck.

it was actually fun and had a good time doin the work. i like being able to do something and pass the info on to others. makes it alot easier that way.

Thanks for all the quick help fellas. So basically it all works the same (IE removing the tethers and pulling it out at a 45 deg angle), but I do have to get the new hinges. 'Preciate it!

hey team, the hinges are really cheap, under 10.00 bucks i think. the reason you have to change hinges is that the newer tailgates have torsion bar that runs the lenght of the tailgate. it helps to aid in easier lifting of the tailgate.
