Color Matching Some Parts...

I thought I would color match my door handles. I also bought some chrome mirror covers to color match.

Here are the chrome covers I got...



Sanded, adhesion promoter, and primer...



A few coats of top coat...



I have not applied the clear coat yet and hope to tomorrow.

Here are the smooth handles I got from eBay disassembled...

I just had my spare handles and tail gate handle painted.... how hard is it to swap the door handles out?

I have not swapped them out yet, but I do not think it is too hard. I think you just have to take off the door panel and you will have access to remove the handles.

Here are the parts with clear coat. I did 3 base coats and 4 clear coats. I waited 10 minutes between base coats and then waited for 30 minutes before spraying the clear. I waited 10 minutes between clear coats.








Here are the mirror pieces temporarly put on the mirrors. I still have to color sand and buff.





Color seems to match perfectly.

That is looking good!! I color matched my interior door handle in my Lightning about two years ago. Took my time and did several coats of clear. They still look great with two years of use as a daily driver. I plan to paint my mirror caps and tail gate handle also. luckily my door handles were painted from factory.

Looks great. Where did you get the chrome top piece and the chrome middle piece, who manufactures them. I have been looking for these for a while.
