DIY pinchweld covers.

I am pretty bored at work today so I decided to take care of a little cosmetic issue.

Whatabudro already took care of all the details/measurements in this thread: DIY Pinch Weld Covers - Page 4 - Powerstroke Nation

I'm just copying.

I couldn't find any good sanding discs, so these still need to be cleaned up.

I'm going to take them back off and paint them flat black so they kinda blend with the shadows and the bold heads.

They only cost about $50 to make and all I used was a hack saw and a vice. Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace Hardware all stock the stuff necessary to duplicate these.

I like them, Mine has some rust so I could use some, let me know the size.

Lowes, Home Depot, Ace, etc all sell aluminum stips. The ones you'd want are 1-1/2 inch by 8 feet in length and 1/8 inch thick. They go for $21-and-change.

Cut them to 89 and 3/8 inch.

Make these cuts:

I pulled 2 bolts from the front and rear of my steps(4 total each side).

Then I hung them in place with some vice grips and marked which holes needed to be drilled. I used the forward most and aft most set of holes where my steps bolt in and then I used the set of holes that are smack dab in the middle. There are six total per side.

I'll rough them up and paint them when I get some time.

If you have a hack saw, vice, and a drill you can knock these out in an hour or so. I just measured out some quick paper templates and taped them to the aluminum. I'm sure there are better(more precise)ways of doing things but this isn't one of those areas that I thought needed a ton of attention.
