Cleaning the Toolbox
Wasnt quite sure where to put this- but figured this would be a good start. Most people just click new posts anyways so it should reach the whole crowd.
I've go the chrome diamondplate UWS toolbox that many people have. I've had it on my truck for about 2 years. Truck lives its life outside like most do. I pick my boss up from the dealership while hes getting some work done to his truck (he has the same UWS toolbox) and he asks if I know of anything to remove the oxidation that was forming on my box as he is having the same problem. I took a look, and sure enough, I was getting this cloudy appearance to my toolbox. It was still shiny, but nothing like it used to be. I wash it along with the rest of my truck just about every 2 weeks. Anyone know of a good product to help restore the old luster? I'm in Memphis, TN- so hot, humid summers 90-105 degrees with heat indexes of 105-115 on the blistering days |

I have a diamond plate Tractor Supply tool box and have had the same problem. I use mother's aluminum polish for mine. It works great, polishes it right up. I usually do it every spring. Hope this helps.
Also, I use the mother's power ball polisher that hooks up to any cordless drill, speeds things up a lot. Only takes about 30 minutes, and that includes taking it out of the truck. (you don't want to do it in place, MESS!) |
