Mirrors

I have the chrome package and I am really not liking the chrome top caps on my mirrors. Are they just caps? Can I pull them and have them painted, or do I have to remove or replace the whole mirror? Thanks.

You can remove the chrome caps but you would have to replace the cap with another one. Or you could remove the chrome cap, paint it, then put it back on.

Thanks. Do you know how they are held on? Are they easy to remove?

I just went out and messed with them. Tilt the mirror all the way down , and there are 2 clips. Place a flathead screwdriver between the clips and chrome tab and they pop right off. You have to do both at the same time. I have been researching this all day. Replacement part is 17D742, right is $49.02 and left is $50.90. The chrome ones we have are $141.18 each. I am going to go to the dealer and see if they will swap.

Max,
What'd you find out at the dealer? Would you be willing to go all black? I have the all black one piece that I'd switch with you, I purchased painted caps, but I can't put them on! Let me know!!!
