Factory Fender Flares- Removal and Reinstallation ?

I'm going to pull of my gray FX4 factory flares and get them painted red to match the truck. It looks like there is some type of glue between the paint and the flare, (Its currently pulling apart in some places). Have any of you removed these and them put them back on? What are you using between the paint and the flare to get it to sit tight against the truck but not damage the paint?

It's double sided 3M tape that's holding them on now and you can use that again to re affix them after they're painted. It can be a little time consuming, but make sure you remove all of the tape from the flares and your truck so that you have a smooth surface to use. You can get a new roll it at any local auto store.
