Can chrome bumpers be painted?

Has anyone here sucessfully prepped and painted their chrome bumpers? I want to colormatch/black out my truck and debating whether I should get a set of XL/FX4/King Ranch painted bumpers and get them painted black to match my truck or get my existing chrome bumpers sandblasted prepped and paitned to match?

Let me know your experiences and suggestions.

I just bought a 09 f-350 xl with the plastic grill, I want chrome, Where you located? I'd be willing to drive to trade if your interested in trading

Chrome really can't be painted, the paint won't stick to the metal good enough

get a drill with a flap sander,or with elbow grease and rough sand paper,or a wire wheel on the drill will suffice,beat the hell out of it till its rough to the touch,wahh lahh the paint will stick,self etching primer first,or you can do rhino liner on the bumper wich is very cool lookin,you can add color to the stuff is what i hear,you can virtually paint anything,hey if someone can paint the town red then you can sure as hell paint that paper

How bout I trade you my bumper and grill and a little cash for your chrome bumper and grille? I mean why destroy the chrome one if something goes wrong! lol

i just got my bumpers n grill painted to color match truck white and looks awesome.
you just have to sand the s**t out of it to rough it up!

Check Ebay, I was just on there looking for a bumper for my truck and I seen alot of painted bumpers for 08-10s, they were new and very reasonable.

Thanks for the idea Mike but the new ones all being aftermarket I'm afraid they'll be cheap chinese junk.. And all the used ones on ebay were pretty banged up and they still wanted alot of $$ for them.
