Loose Mirror

I just bought my truck. '08 F350 CC/LB. The passenger side mirror has some slop in it. It moves front to back about 2 inches, on the pivot point. And on the way to work tonight I hit 70 and the thing folded right in to the window.

Is there a fix to this? Is it common? Any help would be great. I'm gonna bring it to the dealer on Monday and see what they'll do. I just wanted to see if any of you guys have any experience with this.

Any luck with your loose window problem, I'm starting to have the same problem on the drivers door, wedged some cardboard to provide some added resistance till I can come up with a more perm. solution.

Hey! This just started happening to me too I have looked to just replace the mirror but they are super expensive. Have you found a fix yet? Spending $800 in a mirror is insane!

What type of mirrors do you have? Tow or the stock rectangles (like in my monicer pic)?

I just cracked the pass. side tow mirror on my truck.

I have the tow mirrors on an 08 dually. It's a painted king ranch mirror now that I think of it. Just have a piece of cardboard wedged at the pivot point. These mirrors aren't power fold if that helps. So far the mirrors only move when I have them extended out.

If i had to guess you should be able to pull the mirror off and tighten up a bolt or something. I have never done it, but Im guessing there is a bolt at the pivot point.

Mine did this after I bumped a temporary construction sign, I thought my mirror was damaged. But I hit the fold button back n forth real quick and that snapped the gears back in sync together. Hope that helps!

Same here. Buddy borrowed my truck and hit something with the mirror (go figure). Had a lot of play in it so I would fold it in and back out and it would be tight again. It would loosen every day of driving though and I had to keep folding it in and out. After a few weeks it finally seemed to stop wiggling.

However mine are powered so I am likely to be no help at all to you. I would think you should be able to tighten it though somehow.
