I have seen lots of diamond plate tool boxes painted to match the Arizona Beige on the bottom of the King Ranch trucks, and in my opinion it looks really good...

Ashton............

I got mine linexd when they did my bed.........It will hold up a lot better than paint.
If you are dead set on getting a smooth looking finish on it then get it powdercoated

I just got my new weatherguard saddle box and it went right to line x in the box makes a world of difference on overall looks and durability. my trucks are always black so the boxes get black line x along with the beds the last one i had over 3 years and still looked great besides a bit of fading but some tire shine would fix that right up. line x can do any color even two tones.
