Removing mirrors and painting gloss black...

Hey guys im going to take my mirrors off and have them smoothed and painted all gloss black. I poped the cover off that covers the mirror bolts and removed the rubber grommets. I removed the three bolts that I could see but the mirror did not want to come off. I am notorious for pulling to hard and breaking crap so I was wondering if any one had any pointers for getting them off. Thanks

I will post pics when I get them back from the body shop. Im also getting the tail lights sprayed with the black tint.

I dont think they changed much from mine to youres. There are 5 nuts and a plug you need to snake up thru a hole. To unplug the mirrior you need to remove the door pannel and speaker behind the speaker is the plug. You need to role down the window hold the mirror with one hand and unbolt with the other. There are 3 plugs but there are 5 nuts. Double check

OK i went out and looked. There are 3 rubber body plugs with nuts behind them. Than ther is a plastic cover you need to pop off which has a piece of sound tape under it. You need to peel the tape which will exspose the other 2. for a total of 5.. I am sure it is the same every body is putting 08 mirrors on my year truck.

Or maybe only 4 cuz the middle body plug dosent need to come off there is nothing behind it holding the mirror to the truck.

I did mine also just make sure to unplug the wires and the door cover has to come off. Lift up on it after taking out the bolt there isn't any snap clip which I thought there would be. Also some of the bolts don't need to be taken out. They are there for other things but it doesn't hurt to take them off. There is three that matter and have some one help you because you sure don't want it falling!!

Do you have the factory chrome mirror caps? If so how do they come off? And is it just a plain black under it?

That looks sweet, I'd like to color match mine. But instead I'm just going to recon the light to smoke

I belive he was asking how in the world you get the mirror GLASS out of the mirror. I believe it just snaps out but I am not sure.
