2009 Nav unit in a 2008 F350
For those who were asking if this is possible the answer is yes. I finally got mine up and running. If you need any help just ask and I will do all I can.
You will need: 09 Nav unit I paid $750.00 Amp $100.00 Wire Harness $150.00 Program $150.00 If you want the Sync to work that will cost you more. I have it in my car and never use it. Last edited by Harley350 : 06-20-2009 at 05:41 AM. |

Here is a picture of the unit installed. I did not take pictures of the amp or wire harness. The amp was installed where the sat module was mounted under the steering column. There is a guy who sells the amp and wire harness which would allow you to install the 09 unit in an 08 truck. The 09 unit im finding is hard to find but they are out there. A new one from Ford is over $2000

You don't replace the harness you add one to the existing harness. It's real simple. Just plug the new harness into the factory harness then plug in the back of the Nav unit and to the new Amp. Simple! If you want to do this mod I will give you the number of the person who sells the harness and Amp, both for $250.00 (BTW, I make nothing on this, just here to help, not make money). The head unit may be hard to find, ebay is the best place to look. From what I've seen they sell for around $750-$800 or buy from Ford for $2000 The hardest part of this mod is convincing your Ford dealer to send it to United Radio in NY to be programed. However, if you buy a unit that came out of a vehicle with sub, steering wheel controls, back-up camera etc. it won't need to be programmed, it would be plug and play. FYI, I sold my factory 2008 Nav and sat module on ebay for $800 so I'm laughing!! |

Finally someone has figured this out!
Glad you got this to work! If i have a 2008 fully loaded system with Audiofile, wolfer, steering wheel controls, auto mirror, ect.. it is less work (no cutting and splicing) to upgrade?
Can you give us part numbers or the source you found for the -external amp -wire harness -sync module did it come with the GPS & Sat radio antenna? Thanks for the info!! |
