08 Aftermarket Head Unit No sub????

I searched and could not find an awnser...so Ill start this thread. I just traded the 6.0 in my sig for an 08 lariat 6.4. It has the factory sub and amp in the back but it puts no sound out. The head unit is a Pioneer X8550BT. The steering wheel controls work but no sub. Any Ideas???

Have you taken the head unit out to check the wires? Could be the factory sub was not connected to the aftermarket unit.

Yep did that...

I case anyone searches this on google. The factory ford sub and amp cannot be used with a aftermarket stereo. One would need a small low powered sub amp and then feed the ford sub from there. The factory amp is propriatary and will not work correctly with out the factory head unit.

Nope according to all who I have talked to it is an issue with fords amp. You can bypass it with a SMALL A/M amp, and just use the factory sub speaker wires and run it that way. I tried yesterday and it will work but the sub is full range not low pass, and it will turn up as loud as the speakers so all you hear is the sub. The factory sub I belive is rated at like 50watts thats it.

there is a harness that will work to turn on a sub its a best kits 5800r. might have to put a resistor inline to get rid of amp turn on pop
