My Projector Retrofit Project

In search of the perfect headlight system, i was unable to find anything pre-made that i really liked (most importantly was a quality built item), so i decided to build my own!

I have not bought any of these parts yet, i want to get the opinions of people who have done the retrofit, so i am open to any suggestions. Also, being brand new to this, I'm just going on what I've read in previous build threads so any tips or links will be greatly appreciated!

Here is my tentative list of parts i have yet to order.

New Chrome housings for 08-10 SD

08 10 Ford F250 F350 F450 F550 Superduty Chrome Head Lights Corner Lamps w Amber | eBay

Morimoto Mini Kit for TRS

Bi-xenon Morimoto Mini Stage III Kit (H1) - Complete Retrofit Kits from The Retrofit Source Inc

(not sure on shrouds yet, i plan just to run a basic bright white halo)

6" Morimoto XB LED lighting strip

Morimoto XB LED Strips - Accessories from The Retrofit Source Inc

Switchback LED turn signal lights with load equalizer

3157 Switchback Bulbs and Load Equalizers

The plan is to crack open the new chrome housing lights, paint to match orange reflector Vermillion Red (most of the reflector). Install projectors, install the LED strip on the bottom portion of the painted reflector, aim projectors etc, then seal and wire everything up.

Please let me know what i am missing (parts or process)

Thanks everyone.

Same setup I used, get the depot headlights as they use normal butyl sealant and not permaseal and are much easier to bake apart. You do not need load equalizers with LED T/S bulbs, just go to a Ford dealer and have them program out T/S monitoring, this is how they program emergency vehicles.

I took my truck to the dealer to get it programed for Leds. It's only for the rear, not the front. Still need resistors on the front. 6 ohm. I learned the had way by donating $108.00 to the dealers.

Thanks for the pictures! Those look great, what style halo and shroud did you use? Also, any idea on the difference between the new mini's vs what i had picked out?

I ordered mine from a local autobody supply house, way cheaper than Ebay.

I went with the gatlin gun shrouds and 100mm xb amber leds. With the switch backs I felt like I wanted to add the amber color. I have the D2s 2.0, probably should have went with the H1 because they have better optics but the new d2s is said the be better then the h1. I was going to exchange for the 3.0's because I didn't install mine as of when the 3.0's came out, but TRS said with it being my 1st retro fit, the 2.0's would be 110% over the halogens.

Add to your list' jb weld and if you go with the 100mm angel eyes, you need the jb weld steel stick also. New butyl tape is good also.

Butyl and shrouds should be good for ya. Are you going to cut out the old reflector bowl and JB Weld in the projectors, or are you going with the JNC method?
