Any ideas on how I can overide my dome lights from coming on?

I do a lot of hunting and hate it when I open my doors the dome lights come on. So I would like to do a mod to where I can over ride the dome lights through a switch and not have the dome lights come on when I go to open my doors but able to flip a switch and still have the option to have the dome lights come on when the doors open. Wonder why Ford doesn't have this feature, it's aggravating! Please help me with this mod with any ideas or suggestions. Would like to make it where it looks like a factory switch and not aftermarket. Thank you in advance for any replies.

Do you have up fitter switches? Seems pretty simple if you think about it. Find the wire that powers the dome lights... (I think its blue/white stripe) cut it, splice one end, run wire off that end to a switch, run a wire out the back of the switch and hook it back up to the other end of the wire you cut. Done and done!

do you need to do this for all doors or are you looking at just drivers door?
I just switched the wire for my drivers door button on my 95. When door open and switch off no light, When door open and switch on light.

For all doors the above post about using the hot wire would be best option, it's just not as easily accessible.
