Access functions while +5mph ?

Has anyone figured out a bypass on the navigation functions that "gray out" when in motion +5mph? (OEM navigation head unit).

To me it would be safer to use some of the functions in DEST while in motion than it is to use some of the ones that are NOT grayed out!

All interested.
I spoke to a techie friend of mine. he says the new models that use the
can bus system are difficult to bypass since if you cut the can wires the radio/nav will
throw errors and complain. the older models you could disconnect the vss wire. and bypass the Eb switch. this is not the case on these newer units. Im told what's needed is a computer that can simulate the same data produced when the vehicle is not moving so this is not good news... but news all the same. Im investigating Can buss emulators / simulators. maybe this will be the solution. Ill post my findings.

Lexus started doing the "lock out" on their new models and the problem was solved by unplugging the "sensor" from the back of the nav. Do you think that this is as simple of a fix?

I wish it were this easy. Our NAV units don't have a sensor to unplug
great thought though

Yea, it was easy. The hardest part was pulling off the A/C vents. All you had to do was unplug one wire and then splice 1 or 2 others. But they changed it on the '08s so there is no hack for it.

Dont flame as I am just trying to come up with a solution also BUT

1. if they changed it for 08 why do they use the same radio(I just had a nav deck from an 07 programmed to work in my 08.

2. The 08's use the can bus system but is the speed sensor on this system or is it still plug in.

3. Bump
