Replaced factory Audiophile sub, having problems...

Replaced factory Audiophile sub, having problems...

Well, I removed my factory Audiophile amp/sub enclosure from my truck. I installed an MTX Thunderform enclosure with a pair of 10" Rockford Fosgate P3SD410's in it. I had no problems wiring power to the amplifier and wiring the amplifier to the subs.

I am still having a problem with my bass output though. I tried to tap into the low level stock sub inputs, but could not get any sound at all from them. Then I tried tapping into the stock sub output on the back of the radio. Nothing. So I decided to tap into the rear door speaker outputs on the back of the radio and use a LOC. It works but I don't seem to be getting the low bass. I think that those outputs may be crossed over and may not be full range so I may only be getting mid-bass. Would I be better off putting the stock amp back in and then tapping into the output from the stock amp?

If any of you guys have replaced the stock sub but are still using the stock HU, I would really love to know where you tapped into the stock system for audio.

Thanks!

John

I ended up not needing the LOC. The audio leads from the factory radio to te sub are already low level. I soldered RCA cables directly onto the audio leads and plugged them directly into the amp and it worked great. The truck is in the shop now, so I can't check which wires were the audio leads. Here's a diagram of the wires going from the radio to the subwoofer:

I soldered the positive of the RCA to the VT-GN (violet and green) wire and I soldered the negative of the RCA cable to the GN-WH (green and white) wire then connected the RCA directly to the amp.

The remoate turn-on for the stock amp is only about 6v and will not turn on an aftermarket amp. For a remote turn-on, I bought a relay from Radio Shack. I connected one of the BN-RD (brown and red) wires to the positive input terminal on the relay. I connected one of the BK-VT (black and violet) wires to the ground terminal on the relay. I connected the VT-RD (violet and red) wire, which is the remote turn-on for the stock amp, to the trigger terminal of the relay. I connected the output terminal of the relay to the remote turn-on port on the amp. It works like a charm...when I turn on the radio, the relay clicks and the amp turns on.

Hope this helps.

I know exactly what you mean. I searched for days and all I could find was F150 info that was totally different than the new F250 Audiophile. Once I found this, it was a really quick fix.

Hey Freeky FX4 is there any problem splicing in to the two signal wires in the chart above and keeping the factory sub and running a signal to another amp. I was just curious if there is a downside to this thanks

Why didn't this work for me. I tried to do it this way to get away from using a LOC. I'm hooking up an alpine mrp850 amp with 2 12" pioneer ts-sw3041d subs. I took an RCA cable and cut the ends off of it. Then wired one side to the green and white wire and the other to the violet and green wire. I plugged the other end directly into my amp. Do I need to do anything with that silver wire with the black stuff at the tip of it? I'm trying to do this on my own, maybe it was a bad idea. Any help would be appreciated.

I Had trouble too. I found out that you have to tap into the wires AFTER the amp to get sound. There are 4 wires that go directly to the sub after the amp. Plug the amp in and tie in after the amp... Black with the stripe is positive. I have a 12 and it sounds ok but it is still crossed over for the 8 so some tones still sound like crap but better than factory. Oh yeah I did use a LOC. Hope this helps.
