need wiring info for a sub
im thinking of taking out the factory sub and installing something with a little more kick. however, i need to know if there is a way to tap into the factory wiring back by the sub to wire in a line level adapter to get the signal to the amp (via rca cables). im sure that i could tap into the rear speakers, but that just seems like a lot more work to get all those panels off.
can anyone help???? |

I may be able to help. Can you give me some more specifics? I really don't know how the factory system is set up, but if you tell me what components you are planning on using I might be able to help. Are you going to use an amp with hi-level inputs? If so, you can clip the factory sub input wires to the sub itself downstream of the factory amp, R&R the old sub, run the clipped wires to the "hi-level" input on the new amp, and then run the outputs on the new amp to the new sub. You'll probably need to run an install kit on the new sub since most aftermarket subs draw much more current than factory units. Are you going to get a class D amplifier? If you are not going to use an amp with hi-level inputs, you'll have to get an adaptor to input them to the RCA inputs on the new amp. What amp, what sub? Are you installing a capacitor too? What install kit? Factory deck? |

ended up using a line level adapter off of the rear speakers. that converted the signal to use rca wires, then wired up an alpine mono amp to a 10" fosgate punch p1 in a wedge shaped truck box. remote wire off the back of the factory nav was a solid blue wire. sounds a lot better than stock, but now i want a 12" sub. oh well.
