Question CB radio & linear

Will a CB radio with a linear amplifier foul up any computer functions on a 6.0 PSD ? (not legal, I know---just curious)

No they should not mess up any of the electronics on the truck. But then again it may depend on how big of a linear you are wanting to run.

By the way if you get a shortwave radio license from the FCC you will be legal.

Dunno bout the new trucks, but I was pushin 1500 watts outa my '99 Chevy 2500 without a problem, just be sure to ground it to the frame, My friend smoked his computer grounding it to the body.

Thanks! I had an old Freightliner with a 335 Cummins, when you keyed the mic with a 200+ linear, it would dim the lights and peg the electronic tach.

its not the power that the linear puts out that damages engine ecms it the voltage spikes it creates when keying and unkeying the mic when your power and ground are not hooked correctly power direct to battery and ground to frame or battery and if your gonna run more than a 500 watt unit use a capaciter designed for car audio amps any car audio store cb shop or best buy has them the power your linear needs is always there and youll never have a voltage spike and remeber your antenna mount needs a good ground as well and if you want the very best cb the general lee is tops in my book and ive had em all over the years
