HELP - HID kit - Hi Beams not working - 2008 F350
Hey guys, hoping someone can help us out, we have not found any answers to this issue anywhere.
We just installed a new HID kit (Bi-Xenon kit) on this truck and the hi beams are not working, even though the low beams do work. The kit uses a relay harness and 1 bulb (direct plug n play). When you turn on the hi beams nothing happens, the low beams just stay on. This kit has the built in hi/low functionality. Where the bulb moves using a magnet I believe and when the hi beam is switched, it changes the angle of the bulb. We've replaced all the parts to ensure none of it is faulty...the harness, ballasts, relay kit, bulbs, wiring, switched the battery connector to another battery and even the ground wires...no matter what we tried the hi beams would not turn on. We even checked to ensure power was going to the hi beam wires and connectors. When we switched it back to halogens, the hi beams work perfectly fine, therefore no wiring/fuse issues exist. Has anyone experienced this with HID kits? Is it due to it being a cheap kit? Does the 2008 have issues? Thanks!! |

Mine did the same exact thing, you should have a positive and negative tiny wires going to the bulb it self. Those are the high beam switches. I hooked up my kit and for some reason I had to do positive to the negative and negative to the positive and it worked. For some reason they got screwed up either color or wiring. Mine came from ddmtuning so not sure if yours are the same or not but that's what fixed mine. If the ends have male and female connectors so you can't switch them, before cutting the wires stick some extra wire in the connectors and test it before you go cutting the connectors off!

We tried something else though, which does not seem to make sense at all. Anyone have ideas? Based on the kit we have, since it uses a relay kit, is setup by connecting the first side using the factory headlight outlets/plugs but on the other side you do not use the factory outlets because the wire that comes from the other end is used. Therefore we tried connecting the old halogen bulb into the 2nd headlight outlets and the hi beams worked. This is the only way it seems the hi beams work. Obviously we can't leave another bulb connected permanently it sounds as if there is an issue with the kit wiring or a missing connector or something. Anyone experience this or have ideas? Thanks! |

I've sold hids for 5 years and have this problem with every f series. Where the hid harness connects to the factory harness. Disconnect and remove wires out of connector. Now just take this three wires and change the order if them till they finally work. Won't hurt anything.

I had the same issue with a junk eBay kit. Spent a little extra and got a very high quality kit from The Retrofit Source online: headlight upgrades for all applications and everything works perfect and has a 5 year warranty. Just my .02

I have DDM tuning, my high beams work sometimes. They wont work if I'm driving with the dims on and switch to highs, the dims go out and it is dark. If I flip it back and forth between highs and lows 3 or 4 times they will work. It is annoying but I never use the highs anyway.
