2008 F350 AM/FM/CD Upgrade
My 2008 F350 has an "AM/FM Stereo Single CD" entertainment system factory installed. We have a newer Ford vehicle that has a similar entertainment system but with SYNC. SYNC is so nice. Can SYNC be retrofitted to the existing system? Can the existing system be replaced with a new entertainment system that includes SYNC? What is involved? I prefer to stay with equipment that is "factory installed" quality and appearance (or comparable).

I did one at the dealer, it's a real gong show to install and to get to work properly, it ties into a lot of different things.
There is an add-on kit available to add sync to a non-equipped truck, but it isn't as nice as the factory stuff, and I agree, it looks better. |

I have designed a plug-n-play kit to allow install of the newer hard drive based navigation with Sync. I did once customize the kit for an individual who did not want navigation. I did get it working but we had some issues as I recall.
Several folks on this forum (and others) have bought these kits from me. Just search for my user ID on this forum, you will find many posts by folks who installed my kit. I also did a write up on how to do it DIY before I designed the kit. Steve |
