My dealer's probally gonna want two arms and leg to do that. I know that a buddy of mine told me that its illegal for a dealer to disable that system. Its almost like removing the Cats on ur truck or car? I was just wondering if that has any validity.

a TPMS resetting tool can be bought at any NAPA store. I was service manager for Firestone in my past life and these are great for reprogramming and resetting new and rotated sensors. Part Number: BK 7003221 Price : 159.00 Product Line : Balkamp

they do make different sensors that will read at different pressures, I believe that last I heard NAPA was the only aftermarket chain to start stocking these sensors. I may be wrong this was over 2 yrs ago that I was in the tire industry, so things may have changed since, but hope this helps

You can set the pressure to your desired pressure and perform the relearn procedure in your owners manual. it will learn your pressure and turn the light off.
The tool should have come with your truck if you have the tpms.

The relearn procedure is only used when you rotate the tires. It will not retrain the vehicle if you are running tires with a lower pressure rating than the stock tires. The relearn procedure only allows the truck to determine what tire is at what location after a tire rotation. I have tried this procedure twice, and both times it was performed correctly. The tires I have on my truck have a lower pressure rating than the stock tires. When the relearn procedure is performed after a tire rotation the low pressure light on the dash stays lit. I have talked to two different dealers and they act like they have no idea what you are talking about and have no idea how to correct it. I know that the TPMS is required by law, but I wish someone would learn how to disable it or reprogram it. I have thought about doing the PVC pipe trick, but would rather do it another way if possible. If anyone figures out how to disable or reprogram the TPMS for lower pressure rated tires please let me know. The yellow low pressure light on the dash is really getting annoying.

I did it with my truck. All 4 tire pressures are at 65 psi and no light. Believe it or not. I used the tool that comes with the truck to recal the sensors.

The aftermarket tires I have on my truck are rated at 50 PSI. The Stock tires were rated at 65 PSI in the front and 80 PSI in the rear according to the sticker on the door jam. For the short period I ran the truck with stock tires at the indicated pressure I never had the low pressure light come on. As soon as I changed to the aftermarket tires rated at 50 PSI, I can't get the low pressure light to go off, and I also used the tool that comes with the truck to perform the relearn procedure. From what I have read and have been told, the relearn procedure is only performed to get the front/rear tire orientation correct after a tire rotation. In my situation with 50PSI rated tires the relearn procedure will not keep the low pressure light from coming on.
