Battery Issues

Im almost certain it the cold weather that's caused the issues, but both batteries have gone bad according to the Autozone battery tester. Is it normal for both to crap out at the same time or is it likely that I have another problem to contned with?

Both of mine crapped out at the same time not too long ago. It could be that one craps out and causes the other one to go out before you realized the first one was crap.

It's best to replace these batteries at the same time

Use the battery that wires directly to the alternator and block.
