Stock Radios with Factory Subwoofer

Does anybody know how the factory subwoofer plugs into the head unit? Is it just tied into the regular harness, or is there a separate plug? Both of my trucks have the factory subwoofer, and they both need new head units. The unit in my truck doesn't use the factory subwoofer, and the one in the tow rig just took a dump. A fellow member has two for sale, one from an '08, and one from an '05. I need to know if both of them will integrate the factory subwoofer.

IIRC the non subwoofer head units have 2 plugs on the back and the head units that can control the factory sub have 3. I think the only head units that can control the sub are the nav units and some of the 6 disc CD players.

I don't have Nav or a 6 disk changer and I have a sub in my 08. I haven't pulled my unit out but someone here mentioned that the sub doesn't have an amp and doesn't use the typical red/white audio jacks. It's just tied into the rear speakers somehow.

Again, that's just something I've seen from around here. Were you looking to go aftermarket?

I have an aftermarket now, and the subwoofer does not function. I think these trucks have a pretty satisfactory sound system, so I'd like to get it fully functional.

Did you buy the truck new? Just wondering because the subwoofer was not available without either the 6-disc audiophile radio or NAV with audiophile. I'm guessing previous owner switched out head unit before you bought it.
