Perhaps since it has a DIN/MiniDin plug
disconnect it. take a multimeter and test the hot side.
the side going to the Radio unit. not the camera side
issolate the 12/gnd then all thats left are the Vid wires.

Thats the problem, all I have of the Alpine system is the camera with a 3 ft. cord with a small male 4 pin plug...nothing else.

A8050266, I took the camera out last night and no where do I see that it says Alpine but, what it does say is the letter "EIA" on the back end and on the top it has a "WB3040060" & "Made in Korea" I also took pictures but I haven't figured out how to post them yet.

Danno,
this may sound crazy, but you can buy a reverse cam off eB?y for less than 30 bucks "shipped" this may be a route you may want to consider since you will get a cam that you know what, where and how to deal with. just a thought if this cam give you any more fight.

Is it just a plug&play camera, ready to plug into a new ford? What did you use to search for it on e-bay? I will have a look!

danno,
Its just standard Cam with Integrated IR and also a reverse Image.
for example. in my application I used this very cam. do a search on ebay
for Item#150014192301 I am not in any way affiliated with this seller.
it has 120 degrees of view. this cam has 3 wires. Power/Ground and VID.
and your up and running. basically a god value. their are many reverse cams
that could suit your need.
