where to tap acc power behind dash

Anyone know where to tap keyed (aka acc) but not "retained acc" (aka stay-on-till-open-door) power behind the dash? I've checked both the cigarette lighter and power port, and they're both constantly hot.

Is the actual ignition acc wire off the harness for the key a retained acc? I'm not certain whether it is or not but I know it is easy to get to. I used that in an install on a GPS tracker last week but with that, the retained wouldn't be that big of a deal. Could be easy to test it. It is under the dash where the steering wheel protrudes underneath. If I remember correctly there is only one harness going up the column. It is a purple with green wire.

I don't know if it is or not. I'll go put a voltmeter to it, and find out.

Ultimately, I'd prefer something in the center of the dash.

That would stay on after the key is off until the door is opened or it times out. OP isn't wanting that for his application.

If it is, jumping to the center of the dash from there is very easily done. There are plenty of wire looms to piggy back onto to run the wire securly and out of sight. There is essentially nothing blocking the wiring path that prevents it.
