Sit in the drivers seat, set the alarm, wait a few moments and open the door.

I didnt even know we had an actual factory alarm.
so just sit in it, click the lock button, then manually pull up the lock and open the door? how long do you have to wait?

If it was armed, not long at all, it should sound immediately. Do you not have a key fob?

In 2008 it was not available on the XL, optional on the XLT, included on all others. However, you could get the dealer to install one on the XL.

In 2009 and 10, it was optional on the XL, included on all others.

In all cases, the above is based on the factory alarm, it could be upgraded to the Gold alarm which includes remote start capability and an actual siren instead of the use of the horn.
