Back up camera.
I have an 08 F450 with a backup camera and was planning on talking the pickup box off and installing a flatbed. I'm wondering if anybody knows if there is a replacement camera that I can install in my flatbed that will work with the original screen in my rear view mirror. Thanks

look into the escape and mustang rear cameras that mount above the plate and integrate with the plate light. you might be able to use one like that and it may even plug in the same. its worth a shot. if you wanna get rid of the camera you have, maybe even the whole tailgate, PM me.

just move your OEM camera. I've got my factory camera mounted on my service body

I'm interested in the tailgate if it's a step tailgate. What color is it?

I say sell the tailgate and camera (worth alot more that way) and buy a good after market camera that will install where ever you want it. you will have $ left over that way.

My tailgate handle oem camera went out and I put one of those cheap license plate mount cameras on. There are wiring diagrams on the forum somewhere. But any 12v camera will work. Since my stock camera was bad, I just cut the wires between the camera and the plug in the tailgate and wired the new camera to the plug. It works fine.
I would assume you could do the same thing. The field of view is not as good as the oem but I can see my 2" ball hitch and anything it is about to hit just fine. |
