Lost spare key

How do you tell if you have the "chipped" key or non? My dealer is unsure and quite frankly seem like a bunch of pecker heads.

They are quoting 200$ for key & fob. I would like to have a spare key again.

Thanks !

you do... order the key blank and fob off ebay and you can easily program the fobs by cycling the key on and off i think its 8 times or until it locks and unlocks. Then you take all the key fobs you want to program and press a button on each of them and thats it. If you only have one key you will have to go to the dealership and have them program it. Shouldnt cost more than $50

You definitely have a chipped key and if your dealer doesn't know that, run away as fast as you can.

As for price, call your local key shops. I got a second key made for my truck and it only cost $45 total! That's the cost of the blank, having it cut, and programed! (I only had one key at the time of purchase so he had to pull info from the PCM.) I think he sold FOB's for $20

If you even had that thought, they more than likely are.
