2010 F350 Lariat with factory 1-button remote start...anyone else?

I purchased my truck used last week and noticed it has a separate 1-button remote start (factory transmitter). Pulled the original window sticker from Ford Labels online and come to find out it was installed on the assembly line before hitting the dealer's lot. However, I can't seem to get it to work. I located the manual for it and followed the instructions, but still to no avail. I was surprised to see the manual state it can take up to 30-seconds for a diesel to start remotely and so I waited, but still nothing.

Anyone else have a factory remote-start and can give me advice to what I might be doing wrong?

are you holding the start button for 2 seconds? Does the horn sound after you hold the button for 2 seconds?
