The wiring harnesses won't allow the steering wheel buttons to work. Atleast, when I put a radio in my 04 Chevy Malibu, they didnt work either.

You replaced the stereo... Why would you expect Sync and the wheel controls to work? Though, depending on your head unit, an adapter is available to restore the controls. I knew I would be replacing the stock one so I got my truck without Sync and wheel controls.

Kenwoods new Headunits (dnx9990hd and dnx6190 I think) retain all of the factory ford sync features. There is also an adapter for the wiring harness that allows you to use the factory steering wheel controls with them. Just thought you guys with sync in your trucks might be interested to know. They are much better units then the factory ones, not to mention the customization capabilities, and the fact that the gps is powered by garmen. Besides I'm sure that ford wants a pretty penny for the factory headunit with gps.

Send a message via AIM to MPTonyT
You can use the PAC MS-FRD1 and the PAC SWI-RC to retain the SYNC and Steering wheel controls.

That requires the iDatalink Maestro to retain the functionality of Sync with the new Kenwoods. They have been rumored to be available anytime now since May. I finally gave up and installed without the Maestro. Supposedly, it will be released in the next few weeks. I wasn't going to wait any longer.

iDatalink | Facebook will give you more details on release.

As for the DNX-9990HD.....awesome headunit....I love mine.
