Compass and Thermometer

Since I bought my 08 F250 with a 6.4 off the lot, I assumed anything that sold for over $ 50k would have a compass and thermometer included but was wrong. Not being able to live without both, I bought a generic mirror off of eBay for about $ 100 plus shipping. Since you don't know where to find hot wires and ground wires anymore, I tied the constant hot to my cigarette lighter, the ground to the lighter ground and went hunting for an ignition source. By accident, I found one under the hood (the hot side of the underhood light) with a bonus. When you open the door, a relay tells the system to power up the ignition circuit, the mirror comes on. When you close the door, the same relay tells the system to wait a minute and shuts down along with the mirror, pretty slick.

Is there not a thermometer built into the Audiophile Radio display?

Nope, if you don't have the option for temperature/compass in your message center, you did not get the option. I had to order an aftermarket mirror to get the features.

how about some pics?

How about posting some pics and feedback on your e-bay purchase?
I've been thinking of the add-on mirror but some aftermarket parts are to say the least cheezy. Im curious how does it look and feel?
as in Quality vs cost. and which one specifically did you get.
Thanks in advance

Well the HVAC on mine can display the outside temp and the message center has a compass......your HVAC can't at least give you the temp

I was pissed about this as well.

For me the solution was to read the manual. Mine has it in the HVAC display but I was too lame to look in the manual and instead was irritated for a while.

I have the Dual zone, all electronic HVAC. Maybe only those had it?

I started a thread on this same subject in 6.4 General Discussion, it should have probably gone here.

I'm going to install this mirror, I think it should work/look OEM. As long as I can get the correct leads etc, there is some info on the thread about that too.

That mirror looks nice. It looks just like the one that was in my old Chevy Tahoe.

Let us know if you need any assistance with locating wires.

Doesn't your command center or info center (between Tack and Speedo) next to your mileage list your compass heading? The Lariat does but I assumed they all had the same command center.
