Yes it can be done. There are several threads on the forum about this subject. Here is one that give pretty good description of the complete project (including getting Sync installed and working).

Adding Sync to 09 Nav in an 08 truck

It is a fairly long thread but the important information (the actual install instructions) is on page 8 I believe.
