My sister said you have to get a code or dvd or something from ford that will allow you to play a dvd first. At least thats what the salesman told her on her 08.

The zone has to be set on most DVD's before they will work. This is the decryption firmware that allows you to view encrypted DVD's only from your zone.

Okay , I'm not sure how that answered my question. Let's say I remove the encryption. Now what?

Thank you. At this time I find the system is just a radio and nothing more. What a shame. For the price this should be able to play dvd movies. This is not really a complaint but an observation.

Playing DVD's

All,
I found a MOD for your existing Nav unit. It' will have 2 seperate Video inputs
1: Used as a Reverse camera input
2: Used as a DVD input
As part of this Mod you will have a sensing wire that lets the unit know
you are in reverse so the Rear view camera turns on automatically
As for the DVD it remains completely separate as in any controls.
use of an aux video device will be necessary.
so a portable dvd player hooked into the head unit. or even a VCR or a front cam whatever you like. (even a TV tuner like "NAV TV")
the mod incorporates a switch between the units monitor and its electronics.
and a "Switch" is what makes the switch. "A" your in normal radio/nav mode
"B" your in either Backup cam mode or DVD watching mode.
NOTE: Even while in "B" mode the radios internal electronics are still active
just not visible.
Ill let you know how this mod plays out when I get my unit back.
and yes its a mod just like NAV-TV does but for a lot less $$ I think NAVTV
is 600 to 800 this mod is less than 400 shipped.
for what its worth.

Just FYI, it is illegal for any video screen to show anything but navigation when the vehicle is in motion that is in the front seat area.
