"Wiring Fault on Trailer" in message center

Is anyone else getting this error message on their '08? Mine only does it without a trailer connected which is puzzling. It would not be so bothersome if the message was not accompanied by a warning tone every time I step on the brakes! At least the stereo is loud enough to cover it up.

I looked around a little, and other suggestions are:

1) Ford dealer for warranty
2) TBC (Trailer Brake Controller) - Assuming you have the Ford stock one
3) Brake light fuse or bulb blown

Thanks for looking. Dealer says there is no fix yet, and the Oasis system instructs the dealers not to replace the cluster because that will not resolve the issue. Ford thinks it is a moisture issue in the 7-way connector, but mine is bone dry and actually does it much less in the rain!

HMmmmm. Does it much less in the rain? That sounds like a contact problem to me. I think I would try to clean all connections & where the wires enter terminals / plugs with contact cleaner. I'd put some dialectric grease on the pin connections. Maybe some RTV silicone on the wire entry points. Just my , but it couldn't hurt.

Already tried the dielectric grease and checked for any loose connections. Guess I'll just have to put up with it until Ford figures it out.......

That would piss me off on a brand new truck! I wouldn't put up with that for more than two seconds... I can't hardly stand the seat belt sound and it's designed to do that!

Look for the ground wire.

Sounds like it's loose.

I've recently encountered the same problem on my truck. I have two Haulmark trailers. A 7x14 utility trailer and a 8.5x28 car hauler. Both use the 7 pin connector and both have electric brakes. I have enevr had a problem with the 28 footer, but the 14 footer almost every time i hit hte brakes i get the fault message, and I feel a surge in the elcetric brakes for a second. I've checked the wiring, and haven't found anything wrong with the trailer. BUt since it's only happening with the small trailer, its hard for me to believe it's the truck. Only difference is I lower the trailer brake controller to 7.0 for the small trailer, while it's on 10 for the big one. Don't know if that could have something to do with it or not?????????

I am getting the same thing haven’t pulled a trailer with the truck yet. Did you ever get the issue resolved? any help would be great, my dealer told me it was my trailer and I told them I had not pulled with the truck yet they told me to make sure the cover on the 7pin was closed and not getting wet.
