I've had my Alpine camera right above my license plate for about a year and a half now and with all the salt and grime on the road it managed to start corroding some of the terminals in the harness and the camera housing itself. So I picked up a tailgate handle with the hole for the camera from the dealership and dropped it off at the audio shop. They got everything cleaned, cut out the corroded harness and put the camera in the factory tailgate handle. They had to remove it from the Alpine housing but it fit great after that. They also wired my upfitter #1 so I can flip it and check out my trailer hitch at any time. This setup is MUCH nicer than before since with my 10" drop hitch I could see the ball before. Plus it looks factory now! :thumb:
I actually installed one that is my license plate frame... you cant hardly see the camera.. and the camera is abled to be angled without moving the plate frame...
That's right where mine was. It worked ok but with my big drop hitch I couldn't see the ball and it was always getting coated in salt and road grime. Here is how my camera is mounted now...just like factory.
