I had my stock 6 disk player removed and an Avic D3 installed some time ago. I have decided that I miss the use of my headphones jack. Without taking my dash apart, does anyone know if there is any way to hook the jack up to an AV input on my d3. Maybe by means of spicing some RCA jacks onto the wire (if there is one). Has anyone tried this? Thanks. :icon_ford:
its a aux cable jack to plug in mp3 players and ipods and then it has a usb port to its all part of the sync system. if im not mistaken you have to buy an adapter to hook it up.
Yes it can be done. Fairly easily as a matter of fact.
4 wires in the 16 pin plug behind the radio
Blue - L +
Yellow/Green - L-
White/Green - R +
Blue Green - R-
Splice top an RCA then pipe it into the back of the radio via an AUX in. If one is not there then look to purchase an AAI-PIOP (made by PAC) that will allow you to turn the iP-Bus input into a set of RCA's
I just did this to get rid of the aux in cable I had hanging out of my dash. Now I just plug into the factor Aux In and it's now wired to the Aux In RCAs coming out of my Alpine.
The wire around the inside wire (red or white) is the negative correct? I'm just asking because I swear I had to hook up the Blue/Green wire to the red wire to get sound on the right side and I thought the red and white wires were positive.
Hmmm. Ok I wonder why I couldn't get sound out of the right side unless I hooked up the Blue/Green (blue with green stripe) to the red wire? Once I did that I got full sound out of the right side and it sounded just as good as when I was using the RCA to Aux cable. :dunno: Also, once I put the Blue/Green to the red wire I got sound without even hooking up the common/ground on the right side.
Ok cool. I'm just glad this got posted up...I didn't know it would really work until I saw this thread! I'm back to a nice clean dash now.
