08 F350 STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS

Hey guys, looking for a little help.

I have a 08 f350 with sirius system. Installed an 08 radio with nav. Except for the antenna (I should have tomorrow) and steering wheel controls, everything is working. The nav works. By that I mean I can put in my destination but it doesn't recognize my location. That problem I hope will be resolved with the antenna. Anyways the problem I am having is getting the steering wheel controls to operate. My dealer says he doesn't know how to configure the system to allow the steering wheel controls to operate (great guy but doesn't have any history with radios). If anyone has any specific directions for him I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks is advance. Ed

when you installed the new radio was there any plugs left undone or any places on back of radio with nothing plugged into it. ford probably wired your truck with it you just need to find it maybe.

No, in fact the controls worked with the factory radio. I'm guessing the controls need to be configured to this radio somehow, someway. Hoping somone thats gone through this can help. Thanks, Ed

the stereo needs to be programmed, mine did this as well. Do a search on ebay for ford navigation programming, there are many that do this for about $100 including shipping.
