4x4 not working, bad hubs?

As the title says. I put it in 4x4, and it won't engage. For a while it would slam into 4x4, and it'd have a grinding sound, then it'd work. But now I put it in 4x4, and as I try to move, I can hear something grind from the front of the truck.
Does that sound like bad hubs? Are they hard to replace?

I had the same grinding sound in my hubs and then a clunk. Lost 4x4 too. Didn't matter if I engaged my hubs manually or used electronic shift on the fly. Brought it to the dealership and they replaced everything under warranty. I'll look at my service documents and see what was done and replaced tomorrow.

i have a brand new hub id sell if you decide to replace them. i thought my driveside hub was bad but turns out its got a vacuum leak on the back side of the hub, not the locking hub itself. let me know id be willing to make a good deal on it. i also have a brand new 4x4 vacuum switch that mounts on the fan shroud if anyone needs one

I had new change up inner axle seals installed, new knuckle seals and hub orings installed, and new auto lock hubs installed according to my service record. They also cleaned my axle tube and knuckle surfaces. Both outer axle seals were damaged and both auto lock hubs were damaged.
